The visually-impaired sprinter, of Cleethorpes Athletic Club, has been selected to represent Great Britain at the event in June.

He said: “We’re at a great time for sport in Grimsby. There’s a buzz around the town with Grimsby Town being promoted and everybody becomes united.

“There is no better feeling than going on to the track wearing a Great Britain vest.

“Representing my country means so much to me and to be selected for my first Europeans at the same time makes it even better!

“The end goal is still of course Rio, so I’m looking at the Europeans as a big stepping stone. I haven’t set myself any targets because I do not want to limit myself.

“I’m working harder than ever at the moment and I’m thankful it’s paying off.

“I feel the support from everyone on social media and I can’t thank everyone enough.”
