TWO top Grimsby-area athletes have been selected for the forthcoming IPC World Championships.
The competition – featuring the world’s best athletes with a disability – is to be held in Doha, Qatar, from October 21-31.
Hollie Arnold will go for gold in the javelin, while Zac Shaw will compete in the 100m and 200m.
Arnold is among six reigning world champions who have been named in a 48-strong British team for the contest.
The former Cleethorpes AC athlete won gold last time out in Lyon – as did team-mates Hannah Cockroft, Aled Davies, Richard Whitehead, Sophie Hahn and Paul Blake.
She grew up in Holton-le-Clay and went to school in Louth – but is now based in Wales.
Arnold is hugely experienced on the world stage having competed at top-level events since the Beijing games back in 2008. Shaw – a current Clee AC athlete – is by contrast a relative newcomer and his rise to prominence has been rapid.
